The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has once again demonstrated its internal strength and capacity to handle internal disagreements. At the 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Abuja yesterday, leaders of the opposition party declared that PDP knows how to solve its own problems.
Speaking to the press after the meeting, the party officials said the session had only one item on the agenda — to decide on the status of the party’s National Secretary and chart a way forward regarding the upcoming national convention.
After deliberations, it was unanimously agreed that Senator Samuel Anyanwu will continue to serve as Acting National Secretary. The party also announced that the next NEC meeting will hold on July 23, where preparations for the national convention will be finalized in accordance with INEC’s regulatory requirements.
The party’s leadership emphasized that both the current acting National Chairman and the Acting National Secretary will jointly sign off on the next meeting, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
In a pointed message to critics and those who predicted a leadership crisis, the party declared that the PDP remains the only political organization in Nigeria with tested mechanisms for resolving internal issues.

“To our detractors who thought this meeting would go wrong or spell the end of the PDP — the beauty of our party is that it knows how to solve its own problems,” a PDP leader stated confidently, adding that all PDP governors and members of the National Working Committee (NWC) attended the meeting, proving that the party is united and focused.
“You won’t be seeing all these press releases and counter press releases anymore. We are on the same page,” he concluded.
The reaffirmation of leadership and unity appears to be a strategic step as the PDP prepares for upcoming political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
