2 Years in Office: “Your Leadership Brought Hope and Renewed Optimism” – Dr. Oreh Hails Gov. Fubara

As Governor Siminalayi Fubara marks two years in office, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Rivers State and leader of the Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh Support Group, has in a message issued to commemorate the Governor’s second anniversary in office, praised what she described as a “transformational yet people-focused style of governance” that has not only delivered projects but also restored optimism among the people.

“Your leadership brought hope and renewed optimism to the people,” the message read, underscoring a deeper narrative beyond bricks and mortar — one that centers on public trust, emotional relief, and faith in government.

For a state that has experienced political tension in recent years, Dr. Oreh’s remarks reflect what appears to be a growing sentiment among residents: things are beginning to stabilize, and governance is slowly returning to the basics — service, accessibility, and results.

Unlike many political statements filled with partisan tones, the Support Group’s message strikes a human chord. It applauds Governor Fubara for promoting peace, unity, and inclusive development across Rivers State, even amid political challenges that could have easily derailed progress.

“Your leadership has not only been about building roads and schools. It has been about building trust and peace — the foundations any lasting development must rest on,” the statement added.

While acknowledging physical infrastructure achievements such as the construction and rehabilitation of key roads and bridges, Dr. Oreh’s group emphasized that these projects are meaningful because they directly improve people’s lives.

“From better roads that ease movement of goods and people, to improved access to health services and learning facilities, we’re witnessing a shift from political promises to measurable impacts,” the group said.

Indeed, several projects initiated or completed under Governor Fubara’s leadership have targeted everyday challenges. In both urban and rural areas, residents report improved access to markets, schools, and clinics — signs of what many hope will become a sustained effort at grassroots development.

Dr. Oreh, speaking from her vantage point as Commissioner for Health, highlighted the administration’s support for the health sector — including expansion of primary healthcare centers, improved staffing, and renewed attention to maternal and child health.

“Healthcare is being taken seriously again,” she remarked in an interview earlier this year. “The governor has shown support not just in words, but in budget allocations and actions. We’re seeing better immunization coverage, improved emergency response, and stronger health governance.”

In the education sector, similar efforts are underway. Teachers are being trained, schools are receiving new infrastructure, and policies are being reviewed to ensure quality learning. The administration has also supported digital literacy programs, helping students prepare for a more competitive world.

One of the hallmarks of Governor Fubara’s approach has been his focus on economic empowerment. His administration has launched and supported various skill acquisition programs and entrepreneurship initiatives, especially targeted at youth and women.

“Young people in Rivers State are no longer just waiting for government jobs,” the Support Group noted. “They are being encouraged — and supported — to create jobs, start businesses, and become productive contributors to the economy.”

In collaboration with local agencies and private sector partners, the state has rolled out vocational training schemes in tailoring, ICT, agriculture, and light manufacturing — helping many young people earn income and gain financial independence.

Dr. Oreh’s message was also careful to highlight the governor’s calm and collected leadership style. In a political climate often charged with personality clashes and power struggles, Fubara has taken what many describe as a “quiet strength” approach — avoiding distractions and focusing on governance.

“This calm, purposeful leadership has restored confidence in governance,” Dr. Oreh’s statement read. “People now believe that government can serve without fighting, deliver without noise, and lead without bitterness.”

For Dr. Oreh and her support group, the past two years have set a solid foundation for what could be a legacy of calm, people-first governance in Rivers State. “We are proud of the journey so far,” she said. “And we are even more hopeful about what’s to come.”
