The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has let its axe drop on a former President of the Senate and two ex-governors for alleged anti-party activities.
Those who faced the temporary axe were Chief Anyim Pius Anyim, a former Senate President; Ayo Fayose, a former governor; and Ibrahim Shema, also a former governor.
Also suspended by the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) was Prof. Dennis Ityavyer from Benue State and Dr Aslam Aliyu from Zamfara state.
However, the party took exceptions to the sabotaging role of the incumbent governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, whose case was referred to the disciplinary Committee for necessary action.
Disclosing this Thursday, Debo Ologunagba, who is the National Publicity Secretary of the party, said the decision was taken after a very extensive review of the affairs of the party.
He said the decision to suspend the errant members was taken “pursuant to the provisions of the PDP Constitution.”
He also stated that Ortom was sent to the National Disciplinary Committee of the party over his involvement in anti-party activities.
“The PDP urges all leaders, critical stakeholders and teeming members of our Party across the country to remain united and focused at this critical time,” the statement read in part.
