Former Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom, said yesterday that the PDP G5 group would support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
According to him, the group has no regrets backing the president in the last election.
Ortom stated this at a luncheon hosted by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, at his Port Harcourt residence.
In the run-up to the presidential election, Ortom, former governors Okezie Ikpeazu, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Nyesom Wike, and Governor Seyi Makinde vowed to support Tinubu and rejected Atiku Abubakar as the PDP’s nominee.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, ultimately prevailed in the poll. Ortom, Ikpeazu, and Ugwanyi all lost their campaigns for Senate seats, while Wike became a member of Tinubu’s cabinet.
Speaking at the Lucheon, Ortom declared that the PDP G5 would again back Tinubu for a second term in office as Nigeria’s president.
“If we don’t work to ensure Bola Ahmed succeeds, there will not be tomorrow for anybody to even contest the election at all.
“Our leader, Nyesom Wike, has already made a declaration that in 2027, we are supporting President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“We have nowhere to go because that is what Nigerians believe. Even the past administration that took Nigeria from top to bottom, we allowed them to work for eight years.
“So, why can’t a seasoned administrator in the person of President Tinubu rule us for eight years?” he asked.
