Following the victory of the Candidates of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in the just concluded Rerun Elections conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Anambra State in line with the ruling of the Court of Appeal, INEC on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, issued Certificates of Return to the party’s Candidates, Hon Princess Chinwe Nnabuife and Hon Peter Uzokwe who won the Rerun Elections in Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency, and Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency respectively.
Addressing the press after the exercise which took place at the Conference Room of the Commission’s headquarters, Abuja, Member Representing Orumba North and Orumba South Federal Constituency and winner of the Rerun in the constituency, Princess Chinwe Nnabuife appreciated voters in the polling units that participated in the Rerun Election for maintaining their confidence in her. Princess Nnabuife also appreciated INEC and security agencies for working hard to ensure a peaceful and transparent process and reassured her constituents that she would continue to work towards promotion of their wellbeing.
In his own reaction, the Member-Elect of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency, Hon Peter Uzokwe appreciated God for his grace and guidance. Hon Uzokwe who would replace Hon Uchenna Elodimuo of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) at the Green Chamber also appreciated voters especially the people of Nnewi North Local Government Area for believing in him, and assured the constituents of Nnewi North, Nnewi South and Ekwusigo Federal Constituency that he would always partner with relevant authorities to attract developmental projects in their local government areas.
Commenting on the exercise, the Senator representing Anambra South Senatorial District, Dr Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, CON, congratulated Princess Nnabuife and Hon Uzokwe for emerging victorious after the fierce political and legal battles. Senator Ubah who is also the Senator representing the two Federal Constituencies at the Red Chamber further disclosed that despite the fact that he is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he deemed it necessary to attend the event because all hands should be on deck to develop Anambra South irrespective of their political parties. He further appreciated voters that participated in the Rerun for being law abiding and urged them to always work closely with their elected representatives. Senator Ubah also appreciated President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, INEC and security agencies for working hard to ensure a peaceful and transparent process, and reassured the people of Anambra South Senatorial District that he would continue to work towards the progress of the Senatorial District.
