Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, yesterday, told worried residents that efforts were being made to end open and indiscriminate grazing within the city centre.
He gave the assurance in Abuja when he received the Belgian ambassador to Nigeria, Daniel Bertrand.
Wike said he had initiated multi-faceted discussions with different relevant critical stakeholders on the need to end roaming of cattle in the city.
He said fighting insecurity in the FCT demands multifaceted approaches, which the administration was already adopting to defeat criminalities.
According to him, the FCT Administration (FCTA) has also intensified a partnership drive with the private sector transportation players, in a bid to beef up security in the city.
The ambassador, who had raised concerns over the roaming of cattle on the streets of Abuja, expressed satisfaction that the minister had initiated a fight against the menace.
Bertrand also expressed interest in getting investors from his country to partner FCTA in the development of the nation’s capital.
