Fresh information have emerged on Friday about how aggrieved party members are plotting for a court order to stop the National Executive Council (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) scheduled to hold on April 18.
Sources close to the party indicate that a Minister within President Tinubu’s cabinet alongside a high-ranking member of the PDP NWC, are seeking to convince a judge of the Federal High Court to stop the scheduled meeting.
It would be recalled that the last NEC meeting of the party was convened by the sacked Chairman of the PDP, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, on September 8, 2022.
Since then, there have been calls for the PDP to convene a NEC meeting to chart the way forward and reposition the party.
The party constitution states that a NEC meeting must be held once in three months.
The NEC is the highest decision making organ of the PDP, comprising state governors, serving and former presidents, former vice-presidents, chairman and secretary of the BoT, principal officers of the national assembly, all state chairmen, members of the national working committee (NWC), former governors, and founding members, among others.
