Hon. Emeka Woke has resigned his appointment as a Commissioner in the Rivers State Government.
Woke’s resignation comes amidst the bitter political tussle between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his predecessor, Nyesom Wike.
Recall that Hon Woke served as a Chief of staff from 2015-2023 during the tenure of the former governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike.
There are speculations that Woke’s resignation could be a gesture of loyalty to Wike, whom he worked under.
However, in a letter addressed through the secretary to the state government, Woke disclosed that his resignation was based on his recent appointment by President Bola Tinubu to serve as the Managing Director of the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority.
He said his resignation from Fubara’s cabinet became necessary so as to answer the call to national duty.
