A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dele Momodu, has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Nyesom Wike to leave Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara alone to perform his lawful duties in the state.
Momodu spoke on the background of the crisis between the FCT Minister and the State governor over who controls the state political structure.
Posting on his verified X account, the PDP stalwart urged Wike to keep his focus on the Federal Capital Territory, where he is currently doing well as a Minister, and desist from meddling in the governance of Rivers state.
Momodu noted that the practice of godfatherism must give way in the nation’s polity for the development and growth of democracy in the country.
According to him, “It is on record that he (Wike) and FUBARA were once chummy and that he helped the man become Governor. But other benefactors helped Wike too. Such is life.”
He described Wike as one of Nigeria’s best performing Ministers under the President Tinubu-led administration, with so many remarkable achievements as the Minister of FCT. “He has what it takes to deliver on good projects. He has the guts to initiate or conclude bold projects and hire the best contractors to deliver spectacularly.”
The publisher of Ovation magazine said he is aware that the FCT Minister is quick to anger, but counselled him not to take decisions based on anger.
“The unfortunate part of his trajectory is the lack of anger management. He easily gets carried away with the belief that money can buy anyone and do anything. Once you prove him wrong by debunking this superstition about money, he flies into a rage.
“You would expect a Christian like him to know and learn about forgiveness from Biblical teachings and injunctions but not WIKE. He must fight every enemy, imaginary or real. He also doesn’t know when to stop. Like a poor General, he fights on all fronts, thus leaving some flanks open.”
While advising Wike to stop distracting Fubara from carrying out his lawful duties, Momodu urged the FCT Minister to retrace his steps and bury his ego for peace to reign in the state.
“How I wish he would simply concentrate on his influential job in Abuja and allow FUBARA to be his own Man in Rivers State. When a man gifts the masquerade a goat, he must willingly release the rope.
It is not too late for WIKE to retrace his steps and reconcile with his people. Ultimately, he will still return home whenever politics is over. Let him bury his ego and anger… He has much more to gain or lose…,” he said.
