The Rivers state Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has suspended the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon Barrister Otonye Briggs.
This was contained in a public statement signed on Tuesday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Rivers State Governor, Mr. Nelson Chukwudi.
In his stead, the Governor appointed Hon Bitebobo Nelson Amieye to immediately take as the new Chairman of the council.
The statement reads:
“RIVERS STATE GOVERNMENT
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT
The Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Akuku-Toru Local Government Area, Hon Barrister Otonye Briggs, has been suspended with immediate effect.
The Governor has directed Hon Bitebobo Nelson Amieye, to immediately take over as Chairman.
Barrister Otonye Briggs is hereby directed to hand over all council property in his possession to the Caretaker Committee Chairman.
