The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh in an effort to celebrate the Yuletide season with the people of Ndoni gifted 75 widows with cash, wrapper and bags of rice, including 300 children who also received a school bag each with books.
The women and children who received these gifts on Monday at Ndoni District were drawn across the three wards (wards 13, 14 and 15) in Ndoni district.
Addressing the pressmen at the event, Dr. Oreh noted that she is indebted to the people of Ndoni district who have chosen her to be their representative at the State Executive Council, adding that ‘’ This act of gesture is to show my people that I appreciate and value their trust in me to be their eye at the state level’’.
The Commissioner further stated that the event marks a fulfilled testament at the opportunity of putting a huge smile on the faces of widows and children in Ndoni, ‘’ I’m leaving here invigorated knowing that I have in my own little way touched the lives of my people, and I vow to do more in service to our people in the state and Nigeria’’.
Dr. Oreh also called on other political stakeholders in Ndoni district to remember their home where their little beginning started so as to collectively alleviate the plight of Ndoni people.
Speaking earlier at the event, the Chairman of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area, Prince Isaac Umejuru lauded the initiative of the Commissioner for Health in her effort to show love to the people of Ndoni while celebrating the Yuletide season.
The Chairman urged the people of Ndoni district to reciprocate these acts of kindness by supporting the Commissioner as their daughter and the Governor, Siminialayi Fubara, in ensuring that they foster peace and stability within the region.
Also addressing the issue of development in the LGA, Prince Umejuru reassured the people that Ndoni area would soon get some project development courtesy of the council.
An eye witness at the event, Mrs. Elizabeth Ijeoma Samuel and one of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Victoria Okenna in their different speeches appreciated the Commissioner saying that this is the first of its kind in Ndoni after a long while receiving such gift in spirit of celebrating the season in the district, adding that the Commissioner has renewed their hope by putting smiles in the faces of widows and children in the area.
They prayed for God’s blessing to continually be upon her in all her endeavors as she serves the state and her people in Ndoni.
