Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has formally approved Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo, following thorough consultations and divinations by the Oyomesi.
A statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade, confirmed that the Oyomesi recommended Prince Abimbola Akeem Owoade, and the appointment was subsequently approved by Governor Makinde.
The Honourable Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Ademola Ojo, noted that the announcement brings to an end the socio-legal disputes that have ensued since the demise of His Imperial Majesty, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III on April 22, 2022.
Governor Makinde’s approval of Prince Abimbola Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo is seen as a significant step towards maintaining peace and stability in the state.
