Popular Nigerian activist and influencer, Martins Vincent Otse, known widely as VeryDarkMan (VDM), is taking his advocacy beyond social media. On Wednesday, he met with the leadership of the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to push for the rescue of young Nigerian women allegedly trafficked to Ivory Coast.
The meeting, held in Abuja, was not just a courtesy visit—it was a call to urgent action. VDM shared heartbreaking details from his recent trip to Ivory Coast, where he met some of the victims. According to him, the girls are living in shocking conditions, trapped and exploited with no way home.
Moved by his report, NAPTIP leadership—including its Director General and Board Chairman—promised to act fast. They praised VDM for using his voice to highlight a serious national issue and assured him that the Agency is already working with key government bodies to begin rescue operations.
“These are our daughters, and we will not rest until they are home safe,” the Director General said. She explained that while there are diplomatic processes to follow, the agency is committed to moving quickly.

The Chairman of the Board also commended VDM for stepping up and urged more young Nigerians to speak up for what is right. He assured that traffickers behind the crime would face the full wrath of the law.
Top officials at the meeting admitted that the fight against human trafficking isn’t easy. They pointed out problems like lack of evidence, difficulty prosecuting offenders, and poor support for victims after rescue. Still, they expressed hope that with people like VDM lending their voice, more awareness would be created, and the system would be strengthened.
VDM, in his usual blunt style, promised not to back down. “We can’t keep quiet when our sisters are suffering,” he said. “We must all do something.”
The meeting ended on a hopeful note, with both sides agreeing to work closely until every girl is rescued and those responsible are brought to justice.
