Eid-el-Kabir: “The Toughest Days Are Behind Us” -Tinubu Urges Nigerians to Keep Faith

As Muslims across Nigeria join the global Ummah to celebrate Eid-el-Kabir, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has assured citizens that the most difficult phase of Nigeria’s journey is now behind them, urging everyone to stay hopeful and united.

In his Eid-el-Kabir message, President Tinubu called on Nigerians to reflect not just on the celebrations, but on the deeper meaning of sacrifice, selflessness, and devotion that define the festival.

“This sacred season reminds us of Prophet Ibrahim’s obedience and our Prophet Muhammad’s teachings on submission to the will of God,” Tinubu said. “Now more than ever, these values must guide us as a nation.”

“The toughest days are behind us.” He admitted that the past two years have been difficult, especially as the country undergoes major reforms. Still, Tinubu insisted that the changes are beginning to bear fruit.

“Some doubted the direction we were heading,” he noted. “But thanks to the resilience of our leaders and the perseverance of everyday Nigerians, things are improving. Key economic indicators are turning positive. A better Nigeria is not a dream—it’s on the way.”

The president highlighted the Renewed Hope Agenda as his government’s compass, aimed at long-term prosperity, not quick fixes. He pledged that the benefits of current reforms would soon be felt in homes and markets across the country.

Speaking on recent events, Tinubu expressed sadness over the May 28 flooding in Mokwa, Niger State, which claimed lives and displaced many. He called for prayers and collective support for the victims, urging citizens to show compassion this season—especially to the less fortunate.

“Let those who have more remember those in need,” he said, reminding Nigerians that the true spirit of Eid is not in feasting alone, but in giving, caring, and standing together.

He also urged continued prayers for Nigeria’s frontline officers, national peace, and for all leaders, regardless of level.

“Eid is a time of love and shared humanity,” Tinubu concluded. “Let’s hold on to our faith, our unity, and our dreams. Better days are not just ahead—they are beginning.”
