“Use Eid as a Turning Point, End Wasteful Governance” – PDP Advices Tinubu

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his All Progressives Congress (APC) government to take the moment as a turning point to change course, end wasteful spending, and face the country’s challenges with honesty and compassion.

In a press statement released on Friday, while the opposition Party congratulated Nigerians and encouraged them to hold firmly to their faith in God despite the tough economic and security situation, it also issued a strong message to the ruling government: “Be truthful to Nigerians, end profligacy.”

The PDP accused the APC-led administration of pushing the country deeper into hardship through reckless financial management, corruption, and anti-people policies. The statement described Nigeria as a “killing field” where insecurity has spread unchecked, leaving citizens at the mercy of bandits and terrorists.

“What we see today is pain, hunger, and fear. Nigerians are struggling, and there seems to be no clear plan to ease their burden,” the Party said.

It called on the government to stop borrowing carelessly and instead recover the reported N30 trillion allegedly stolen by top APC leaders through fraudulent deals. These funds, the PDP said, should be redirected into fixing roads, reviving industries, and supporting security agencies.

The Party also urged President Tinubu to reflect on the teachings of Eid-el-Kabir — sacrifice, honesty, and submission to God — and apply them to leadership. With two years left in his tenure, the PDP challenged him to “redeem his image” and leave a legacy of care for the people.

“Let this Eid be a fresh start — a time to stop the manipulation and serve the people with sincerity,” the statement read.

In conclusion, the PDP urged Nigerians not to give up. “Continue to help each other, stay united, and pray for divine intervention,” it added.
