The Nigeria Police Force has given motorists more time before clamping down on vehicles with tinted glass windows.

In a statement dated August 11, 2025, with reference number CZ.5300/FPRD/FHQ/ABJ/VOL.6/485, the Force Public Relations Officer, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, announced that the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has shifted the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement to October 2, 2025.

The decision comes after a sharp rise in online applications through the official portal. According to the police, the extra time will be used to carefully screen applicants and strengthen both online and physical verification to prevent fraud.

Citizens are urged to ignore fake websites and report any cases of extortion, hidden charges, or illegal processing.

The Police say the aim is to balance public convenience with national security — giving law-abiding Nigerians a fair chance to comply, but warning that enforcement will be strict once the grace period ends
