The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Chief Tony Okocha, has expressed confidence that the party is cruising to victory in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for Saturday, August 30, 2025.
Speaking at a rally in Ikwerre Local Government Area, Okocha told a mammoth crowd of party faithful that APC remains the only formidable political force on ground, insisting that no other party can match the ruling party’s popularity and structure in the state.
“On Saturday, we should all come out in our large numbers to vote APC. Campaign is only one part of the process, but the real test is the ballot. I want to see this same crowd when the results are announced, because I am certain we will deliver victory in thousands of votes,” Okocha declared.
The APC chairman also clarified that the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Chief Nyesom Wike, remains a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) despite his closeness to some APC leaders. Okocha stressed that in Rivers State, the APC structure is fully in charge and working towards total victory.
“Wike has said it many times that he is a founding member of PDP and not in a hurry to leave. Our business here is APC. The leader of our party nationally is President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and in Rivers, the renewed hope coalition is unstoppable,” he said.
