A stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Barrister P.O. Akoje, has urged Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to urgently intervene in the growing political tension within the party’s Ibaji chapter.
Barr. Akoje, who hails from Iteh in Ibaji Local Government Area, made the call in a statement on Tuesday, alleging that some top APC leaders in the area engaged in undemocratic practices capable of destabilizing the party ahead of future elections.
He accused the Deputy Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Comfort Enwuchiola Ojoma Egwuaba, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon. Timothy Ojoma, and Barr. Simeon Akoje of allegedly coercing ward executives in Iyano Ward to sign a document against their will.
According to the statement, the ward executives were allegedly offered ₦400,000 to prevent the return of former Deputy Governor, Elder Simon Achuba, to the APC.

Barr. Akoje condemned the alleged action, describing it as “a betrayal of democratic values and a threat to internal party unity.” He emphasized that such behavior, if left unchecked, could create deep divisions within the party and weaken its grassroots structure.
He therefore called on the Governor of Kogi State to launch an immediate investigation and take disciplinary action against anyone found culpable.

The APC chieftain also demanded the resignation of the Deputy Speaker and the Commissioner for Agriculture, saying their alleged conduct was “unbecoming of public office holders and contrary to the principles of good governance.”
Barr. Akoje warned that ignoring the situation could jeopardize the APC’s chances of securing at least 25 percent of votes in Ibaji during future elections.
