Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has issued a direct and emphatic response to claims by the Martin Amaewhule-led lawmakers and other pro-Nyesom Wike political actors questioning the handling of over N600 billion belonging to the state.
Speaking during the commissioning of a 14.2-kilometre road project, Fubara dismissed the allegations as politically motivated misinformation. He insisted that the financial records of the state are transparent, verifiable, and devoid of fraud.
According to the governor, the administration he met left over N300 billion in the state’s accounts during the political crisis, and upon returning after the reconciliation process, his team met over N600 billion—a figure that critics now twist to imply mismanagement.
Fubara was unequivocal that not a single kobo is missing, stressing that meticulous documentation exists for every expenditure under his leadership.
“Every penny we are spending, the records are there,” he said. “From the time I started working in government to this moment, my records are clean. Nobody can associate me with fraud or anything illegal.”
The governor stated that the noise around the finances is coming from those who cannot understand why his administration does not waste public funds on repeated flag-off ceremonies or flamboyant political events.
He noted that the government’s project delivery model prioritizes commissioning completed infrastructure rather than spending money on elaborate flag-offs that bring no value.
“Maybe that is why some people think something is happening that they are not aware of,” he said. “We don’t believe in spending money to flag off and then spending money again to commission. We are saving your money. And we will show you the results in the next six months.”

In what appeared to be a direct message to Amaewhule and the pro-Wike bloc, Fubara stated that record-keeping is his professional background, and anyone seeking clarification should “call him any day, any time”—because the documentation is intact and available.
He assured the people of Rivers State that their money is being used strictly for development, pointing to ongoing and completed projects as proof.
“We are using your money for the interest of Rivers people, not for political godfathers or private pockets,” he declared.
Fubara reaffirmed his commitment to accountability, asserting that the state’s financial integrity remains solid despite attempts to weaponize false narratives for political advantage.
“At the end of the day, our position will be the true position of Rivers State,” he concluded.
