Transportation Minister Condemns Borno Mosque Bomb Blast, Mourns Victims

The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, has strongly condemned the bomb explosion that occurred at the Al Adum Jummuat Mosque in the Gamboru Market area of Maiduguri, Borno State, on December 24, 2025.

In a statement issued to journalists through his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Umar Jibril, the Minister described the attack as barbaric, inhumane, and a direct assault on peace and humanity. He stressed that peace remains the foundation of meaningful development in any society and must be protected at all costs.

Senator Alkali expressed deep sympathy with the Borno State Government and the people of the state over the tragic incident. He offered prayers for the repose of the souls of those who lost their lives and wished a speedy recovery to those who sustained injuries.

According to preliminary reports from the Borno State Police Command, five persons were confirmed dead, while thirty-five others sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured victims are currently receiving medical treatment at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital and the State Specialist Hospital in Maiduguri.

The Minister reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting ongoing security efforts aimed at restoring lasting peace and preventing further attacks in the state.
