Dr. Cairo Ojougboh Foundation has boosted the education of youths in Delta State by paying ₦2.7 million to cover examination fees for students of St. Columba’s Grammar School, Agbor, in Ika South Local Government Area.
The Foundation, established in honour of the late medical doctor and former member of the House of Representatives, Dr. Cairo Ojougboh, organised a special programme themed “Your Future, Your Choice.” During the event, a cheque of ₦2,700,000 was presented to support students sitting for the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WAEC), the National Examination Council (NECO), and the Junior Secondary School (JSS3) examinations.

Beyond paying exam fees, the Foundation rewarded academic excellence with cash gifts for the best-performing students across the school’s nine academic arms. Notebooks and other writing materials were also distributed to encourage effective learning.
Speaking at the event, Chairperson of the Foundation, Mrs. Bose Ojougboh, said the initiative was a way of giving back to the institution that played a key role in shaping Dr. Cairo’s life and values. She therefore encouraged students to stay focused and hardworking, stressing that challenges should be seen as stepping stones rather than obstacles. Mrs. Ojougboh advised the students to take responsibility for their future by making deliberate and positive choices, noting that discipline, consistency, and focus remain essential ingredients for success.

Her two sons, Mr. Nkem Ojougboh and Mr. Orieka Ojougboh, also participated actively in the programme.
The event attracted strong support from the Old Boys of St. Columba’s Grammar School, led by Elder Ndudi Agholor, who shared fond memories of their time in the school and praised the current leadership for maintaining high standards.

In their remarks, the school principal, Rev. Fr. Joseph Ugboh, and the Chairman of Ika South Local Government, Engr. Jerry Ehiwarior, commended the Cairo Ojougboh family for sustaining the late lawmaker’s legacy through education. They described the gesture as impactful and motivating for the students.
The students expressed thier renewed determination to work hard and make better choices about their future.
