Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, is currently holding an emergency meeting with the country’s service chiefs over the worsening security situation across the country.
The meeting is taking place at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters in Abuja, where top military leaders are deliberating on the recent wave of attacks on military formations, particularly in the North-East.
Reports indicate that several military bases in the region have come under attack in recent days, raising fresh concerns about the resurgence of terrorist activities.
The development follows the recent killing of three Nigerian Army commanding officers with the rank of Lieutenant-Colonel during attacks by terrorists in Borno State, one of the states most affected by the insurgency.

Those attending the high-level meeting include the Chief of Defence Staff, Olufemi Oluyede; Chief of Army Staff, Waidi Shaibu; Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Aneke; and Chief of Naval Staff, Idi Abass.
Officials from key intelligence agencies, including the National Intelligence Agency, are also present at the meeting.
The emergency meeting is expected to review the deteriorating security situation and discuss strategies to strengthen military operations against insurgents and other armed groups threatening national security.
