President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede whose second and final tenure ends on July 31, 2026.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, who described Aina as a distinguished academic and systems expert with deep experience in examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector reform.
According to the statement, Professor Aina, who will turn 40 in July, holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent, alongside an MSc in Internet Computing and Network Security and a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
A Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Aina reportedly began his association with JAMB during his National Youth Service, where he gained early experience in admissions administration and data-driven institutional processes.
The Presidency said those experiences helped shape his contributions to examination reforms and systems optimisation over the years.
Professor Aina is also a member of several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology.
