Motorists in Abuja have begun enjoying lower petrol prices as Dangote Refinery-backed MRS filling stations reduced the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) by N76 per litre.
A market survey by Daily Post on Friday showed that MRS adjusted its pump price from N1,317 to N1,241 per litre across Abuja and its surrounding areas, representing a 5.77 per cent reduction.
The price cut comes three days after Dangote Refinery lowered its gantry price for petrol by N75 per litre, following a decline in global crude oil prices to below $80 per barrel.
However, several other major fuel marketers, including Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Ranoil, AA Rano and Empire Energy, had yet to reduce their pump prices in the Federal Capital Territory as of Friday.
The delay has sparked frustration among consumers, with many Nigerians calling on petroleum marketers to reflect the reduction in refinery and crude oil prices by lowering retail fuel prices.
