‘Provide Proof’ – Senator Buba Dares Accusers Over Alleged Bandit Links

The senator representing Bauchi South, Shehu Buba, has challenged those accusing him of having links with bandits to provide credible evidence to support their claims or face legal redress. Buba, who is also the 2027 governorship candidate of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), dismissed the allegations as a politically motivated smear campaign aimed at damaging his reputation in ahead of the upcoming elections.

The lawmaker urged anyone with genuine evidence against him to submit it to security agencies or the courts instead of using social media and traditional press outlets to spread what he described as blackmail and false claims. He maintained that political disagreements should never become an excuse for falsehoods or attempts to damage an individual’s integrity, faith, and culture.

The controversy intensified following videos shared by an online content creator known as D English Alhaji. In the footage, a resident identified as Hassan accused the senator of being among the politicians supporting regional banditry. Hassan further alleged that an aide to the senator helped transport individuals linked to the notorious bandit leader, Dogo Gide, to Abuja for specialized training.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Communication, Sabo Mohammed, Buba fiercely denied the claims, stating he would not allow the orchestrated reports to intimidate or silence him. Speaking to a solidarity gathering of supporters, political associates, and religious leaders, the senator vowed to protect his reputation while remaining focused on serving the people of Bauchi State.

Buba, who noted that he is currently a doctoral student of Peace and Conflict Resolution specializing in non-kinetic security architecture, emphasized that criminality knows no religion, tribe, gender, or geographical boundary. He called on Nigerians to support government counter-terrorism efforts and warned against weaponizing national security for political gain. The senator has instructed his aides and supporters to remain calm and refrain from unnecessary media exchanges, choosing instead to handle the matter strictly through legal and institutional channels.
