Two police officers arraigned alongside former Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari have been sentenced to jail.
Patrick Umeibe and Emeka Ezenwanne were sentenced to six years in prison by a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Tuesday.
The two officers were found guilty on counts 5,6, and 7 out of the charges against all seven defendants in the suit filed by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA). The sentence is expected to run concurrently.
The judgement was entered after the defendants entered a plea bargain with the NDLEA.
The defendants were to appear as prosecution witnesses in the ongoing Cocaine deal trial against Abba Kyari and four others.
Patrick and Alphonsus were apprehended by the police at the Akanubiam Airport, in Ebonyi state and handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement agencies for prosecution.
