The All Progressives Congress’ presidential screening committee said it has disqualified 10 aspirants from contesting the presidential primary.
The APC scheduled its national convention for next week, June 6 and 7.
Chairman of the Committee, John Oyegun, revealed this on Friday.
Oyegun stated that only 13 out of the 23 aspirants screened were cleared by the committee. He later declined further comments on the development.
Oyegun Said youthful aspirants made the list of cleared aspirants.
When asked about the identity of the disqualified aspirants, Oyegun also declined to disclose the names.
“We had 23 aspirants that we interacted with. We are surprised at the participation of the youthful aspirants of the party.
“The youthful aspirants believe so much in the party that they decided to put up their self for the contest.
“It was on that basis that the committee decided to bring down the number of aspirants to 13. We could have brought it down further.
“But for the party that has so many young people and we leave it to the party to decide what to do next,” Oyegun said.
The committee held the screening exercise between Monday and Tuesday this week.
Cleared aspirants are expected to contest the presidential primary at the special convention in Abuja on June 6 and 7.
