The Action Peoples Party (APP) has dissolved its Imo State executive committee and appointed an eight-man interim caretaker committee to run the party ahead of its state congress scheduled for March 24, 2026.
In a press release dated March 2, 2026, the party’s national leadership, led by , said the decision was taken after an emergency National Working Committee meeting. The move, according to the party, is aimed at repositioning the APP in ahead of its ward, local government, zonal and state congresses.
The caretaker committee has been mandated to work with stakeholders to complete the party’s ongoing membership registration, admit new members and prepare the ground for the emergence of new executives at all levels.

The newly appointed interim committee is headed by Hon. Njesi Ernest as Chairman, with Engr. Emeka Onwuka as Secretary. Other members include Engr. Henry Alaribe (Deputy Chairman, Owerri), Barr. Ogemdi Ezeonye (Deputy Chairman, Orlu), Mr. Enerst Ezirim (Deputy Chairman, Okigwe), Barr. Uche Nwosu (Legal Adviser), Comrade Cajethan Duke (Publicity Secretary), and Mr. Peter Etoh (Treasurer).
The party said the restructuring is part of its broader plan to strengthen its internal processes and ensure a smooth and credible congress that will usher in a new leadership in the state.
