The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) have extended their ongoing strike by two months.
The Union said this follows the failure of the federal government to meet their demands.
ASUU’s announcement comes as the February 14 warning strike ends Monday, March 14, 2022.
An official of the Union, Prof. Abdulkadir Muhammad Danbazau of Kano State University, said the eight weeks extension of the strike is to avail the federal government the opportunity to address the needs of Lecturers.
ASUU has embarked on strike for the umpteenth time and is demanding better service conditions that were agreed upon in 2009.
They also want the federal government to approve the University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) for the payment of salaries instead of di IPPIS being used by the government.
