A jester is more like a clown in the king’s palace. His primary duty in the palace is to make the king and his guest laugh; he adds no value to running of the kingdom or maintaining the well-being of the king and king’s subjects. A jester in the palace is never taken seriously.
That is who Ayo Fayose is: an inconsequential joke!
Listening to Ayo Fayose on a national television few days ago in his usual vain fashion and larger than life posturing reminded me of the proverbial empty vessel that makes most noise.
In his characteristic lousy manner, Fayose did an outward advertisement of his emptiness of mind for the world to see. He exuded so much arrogance while trying his please his paymaster.
We may ask who Fayose paymasters are? Ironically, they are former and current governors in the PDP who don’t want peace in the main opposition party.
Ironically again, they are people who are younger to Fayose in age, but have come to realize that the best hire for their dirty job is the Egbon Adugbo who lacks self esteem and the finesse to discern that it is unbecoming of his age to be engaging is Area Boys fisticuffs.
Area Boys are ever ungrateful and their most distinguishing trademark is their uncanny ability to easily forget acts of generosity of time past in exchange for today’s crumbs chasing.
Fayose, in his typical Area Boy instinct and a useless Egbon Adugbo (Area Brother ) that he has become, seems to have forgotten the lifetime impact that Atiku Abubakar made in his life.
When Egbon Adugbo was a pariah governor in the PDP, it was Atiku who gave him a shade of protection.
Even when he was too broke to finance his own campaigns, it was Atiku who came to his rescue.
That same Atiku is the man that Fayose – a disgraceful Egbon Adugbo – goes around making uncomplimentary remarks about.
Because he now feeds off some little boys, Fayose has forgotten about his own history in the PDP and the personalities that stood by him when times were tough.
All that matters to him now is to do dirty fights to little boys. What a life?
The Yoruba people have a word of wisdom, which goes that: ‘ibi gegere ni a n ba agba.’ It translates to mean that an elder must always hold the moral high ground. Obviously, such wise words are not for the ilks of Fayose. Another wise saying that captures an Egbon Adugbo like Fayose is that which says: ‘Agba ti o da so suku agbado mo idi so ara re di alawada adiye.’ It means that an elder who ties the waist with corn cobs makes himself a subject of mockery for the chickens.’
Fayose was roundly rejected by Ekiti people and PDP stakeholders, including the then President Olusegun Obasanjo who had another person in mind for Governor, believing Fayose’s tree will never bear any good fruits. Obasanjo perhaps saw the end from the beginning.
But Atiku stepped in and today the rest is history.
It is not in the place of Fayose to tell Atiku not to contest in 2027, apart from the fact that it s Atiku’s constitutional rights , as at today Atiku is the phenomenon that is being talked about all over the country and even beyond .
It will not be in Fayose’s best interest to join other power drunk and his co-jesters to dissuade Atiku from running for president.
In fact, in the contrary, it is only Atiku that can set them free from the snears of the APC that currently holds them captive.
To buttress Fayose ‘s lack of vision and decorum, a two time failed Governor of Ekiti State who failed without excellent records of achievement should have busied himself with how to join Atiku in the mission to fix the already broken country under Tinubu, rather than seeking to punish Nigerians further by disparaging Atiku.
Fayose himself knows that he has no iota of political capital left in him; his political fortunes has deeply tanked.
Fayose is like a man who is seeking recovery at an old age. Such a man is bereft of intuition as his mind remains vacant of directions. It is therefore not a surprise that Fayose will betray the PDP that has made him who he is today, by working with the APC in the State and National level.
Atiku has built legaicies that will remain timeless. What has Fayose spent his years to build other than his inglorious acts of political chicanery and acting like garrage thug seeking validation through the back door?
If Fayose feels so strongly about his convictions he should contest against Atiku in 2027, after all he did so in 2023 to play the spoiler he is known for but fell flat.
Why is Fayose and his co travellers so scared of Atiku?
Fayose should stay with his APC and leave the PDP alone. He is just one random spanner lost, his vacuum can never be felt. There is a Yoruba Adage that says : ‘Awon eniyan nwo e lawo sunkun, o nwo arare lawo rerin,’ literally meaning that, “People cry because of your deplorable situation , while you look at your self and laugh In ignorance”
I willl advise Egbon Adugbo Fayose to have a rethink, in looking for or re-seeking already lost political relevance. He doesn’t have to use Atiku as the charge.
Atiku Abubakar is way above him and his little boys gang.
It’s a matter of time!
