Senator John Azuta-Mbata has been elected as the President-General of Ohaneze Ndigbo Worldwide.
The election was held today, January 10, 2025, at the old government lodge in Enugu, Enugu State.
Sen. Azuta-Mbata represented Rivers East constituency under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The apex Igbo socio-cultural organization had zoned the position of its President General to Rivers State after the death of Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu.
In his acceptance speech, Azuta-Mbata expressed gratitude to the delegates for their trust and support, promising to work towards uniting the Ndigbo and addressing pressing issues.
Governors Hope Uzodimma, of Imo State, Peter Mbah of Enugu State, Prof. Charles Soludo of Anambra and Alex Otti of Abia State were present during the election.
