Kogi Prison Break: Twelve inmates escaped from the Federal Correctional Center in Kotonkarfe, Kogi State, in the early hours of Monday, the state government confirmed.
In a statement, Kogi’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, Kingsley Femi Fanwo, described the incident as “unfortunate” but praised the swift response of security agencies.
Fanwo assured residents that the government is working with security forces to investigate the escape and recapture the fugitives. He noted concerns over how the inmates managed to flee without causing structural damage to the facility, calling for a thorough probe into possible internal sabotage.

Governor Ahmed Ododo has ordered the State Security Adviser to collaborate with federal correctional officials to prevent future security breaches. The state government also pledged logistical and resource support for security agencies.
