Opobo Kingdom has been thrown into deep mourning following the death of its traditional ruler, His Majesty King (Dr.) Dandeson Douglas Jaja, Jeki V, the Amanyanabo of Opobo.
The revered monarch died after a brief illness, leaving behind a legacy of leadership, peace, and cultural pride. His passing marks the end of a remarkable reign that began with his coronation on January 3, 2004.

Until his death, King Jaja served as the Chairman of the Rivers State Council of Traditional Rulers, where he was widely respected for his wisdom, calm authority, and dedication to the unity and progress of Rivers State.

He was not just a king but a symbol of heritage and hope for the people of Opobo and beyond.

This is a sad moment for the kingdom and the entire state.
May His Majesty’s soul rest in peace.
