A Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, capital of Ekiti State, on Friday, granted bail to human rights activist, Dele Farotimi.
In his ruling, the Presiding Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted Farotimi N30 million bail in an alleged defamation case instituted against him by legal icon Aare Afe Babalola(SAN)
Farotimi was arraigned at a Magistrate Court in Ado-Ekiti, over alleged defamatory remarks in his book titled, ‘Nigeria and Its Criminal Justice System’
The bail was attached with some conditions including, N30 million bond, two surety of responsible character in which one of them must have a landed property within the metropolis of Ekiti, deposition of the defendant’s international passport, among others.
The Court adjourned the case to February 13, 2025.
