Abuja – The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially confirmed Rt. Hon. S.K.E Udeh Okoye as the party’s substantive National Secretary after an overwhelming majority vote in a high-stakes meeting held today.
Insider sources revealed that 15 out of 17 NWC members signed the resolution affirming Okoye’s position, signaling strong internal consensus. The resolution is already being transmitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other relevant bodies for official recognition.
The NWC’s decision follows a review of a memo presented by the Acting National Chairman, along with key legal documents, including a declaratory judgment from the High Court of Enugu and a Court of Appeal ruling affirming Okoye’s position. The committee also considered legal opinions from Dr. Kabiru T. Turaki SAN and the PDP National Legal Adviser before reaching its conclusion.
In a statement issued by the PDP National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, the party reiterated its commitment to the rule of law and internal stability. The NWC acknowledged that there is no subsisting or superior court judgment contradicting the Court of Appeal’s decision.
Party leaders have hailed the resolution as a step toward reinforcing unity and order within the party who is going through internal crisis.
