Rivers State political crisis involving Governor Siminalayi Fubara and pro-Wike Lawmakers has taken a new twist with the demolition of the State House of Assembly.
SYMFONI News reports that about six bulldozers in the early hours of Wednesday demolished the State Assembly complex located in Port Harcourt.
There are reports that the demolition is being carried out for renovation purposes, amid insinuations that it has political connotations given the crisis currently rocking the state’s House of Assembly.
Recall that a section of the complex was destroyed by suspected arsonists on October 30, an incident that many suspected was connected with the plot to impeach the Governor.
Following the fire disaster, the State Government had promised to renovate the complex.
The demolition comes shortly after State House Court in granting an order said Governor Sim Fubara has provided alternative sitting venue for lawmakers following the fire incident and renovations at the Assembly complex.
