As children across Nigeria bask in the joy of this year’s Children’s Day celebrations, a heartfelt message has been sent out to remind them just how special they are.
The touching message, delivered on behalf of Dr. Adaeze Chidinma Oreh, the Honourable Commissioner for Health in Rivers State, comes with a powerful reminder: “You are the heartbeat of our nation.”
Children’s Day is more than just a day off school or a moment to play — it is a time to reflect on the importance of the younger generation and the role they will play in building Nigeria’s future. From classrooms to playgrounds, homes to hospitals, children are seen as the leaders, innovators, and dreamers of tomorrow.
Speaking through DACOSG MEDIA, Dr. Oreh’s team reminded Nigerian children that their innocence is a treasure, their ideas are powerful, and their voices must be heard. “Your dreams are valid, your voices matter, and your future is bright,” the message read.

Across Rivers State, schools and communities held events to celebrate the day. From funfair activities to educational programs, children were celebrated with songs, dances, and games — but most importantly, with encouragement to never stop believing in themselves.

This year’s message carries a deeper meaning, especially in a world where children face many challenges. Yet, through it all, the message is clear: Nigeria believes in you.
To every child in the cities and villages, from the riverbanks to the highlands, this Children’s Day is a reminder that the adults around you — parents, teachers, leaders — are rooting for you.
So as the sun sets on another May 27, the voice of encouragement echoes loud and clear: Keep shining, keep dreaming, and know that we are here to support you every step of the way.
Happy Children’s Day, Nigeria!
