The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, has issued a thinly veiled warning to key figures in the party, including its 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, hinting that he could expose sensitive information if provoked any further.
Speaking at the Party event organized by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) chapter, Abure deviated took time to address what he called “betrayal and ingratitude” within the party’s ranks.
Without mentioning names directly at first, Abure criticized individuals who he said the party had sacrificed greatly for — rejecting billions of naira in the process — only to be turned against by those same people. “We laid down our lives for some of them,” he said, “but today they are the ones at the forefront of trying to throw us out.”
The Labour Party Chairman, said he had kept quiet for too long but was now ready to speak out. “I’m waiting for them — from top to bottom — to make another move, and I will open my mouth,” he warned. “And when I open my mouth, wherever they go, they will smell like rotten egg,” he blew hot.

While he did not mention Peter Obi’s name outright at first, his closing remarks made it clear he was referring to him. “Obi started it, and we joined him. But when Saul drops his crown, God anoints David,” Abure said, drawing a biblical comparison that suggests a leadership shift may be on the horizon.
He also made strong allegations about lack of financial support from elected officials. “Today, the party has not received one thousand naira from many of them — not from the suspended governor, senators, or House of Reps members,” he stated. He dared any of them to publicly prove otherwise, including the now-suspended Labour Party governor, Alex Otti.
Abure’s speech also addressed those who criticized the party over campaign agent funding. “I kept quiet even when people talked about agent money. I believed we should all stay together — the good, the bad, and the ugly,” he said. “But some people have crossed the line.”
Abure called out what he sees as a lack of appreciation. “We used N30,000 to rent a hall, bought gala and gave no water. But they still don’t value what we did for them. This time, they will sweat before they get anything.”
