The Rivers State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Adaeze Chidimma Oreh, has publicly defended Governor Siminalayi Fubara’s recent political realignment, describing it as a strategic step aimed at strengthening peace, development, and federal collaboration for the benefit of Rivers State.
Speaking during the commissioning of a major road project linking several local government areas, Dr. Oreh said the governor’s decision to openly align with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the All Progressives Congress (APC) was rooted in governance, not politics of convenience.
According to her, the governor has consistently maintained that development thrives best in an atmosphere of peace and cooperation, adding that his political move reflects his long-standing commitment to national unity and federal progress.
“She made it clear that the governor does not believe in supporting the President ‘from the backyard’ but has chosen to stand firmly and openly with the federal government in the interest of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole,” she said.
Dr. Oreh noted that the governor views his political steps as a continuation of his peace mantra, explaining that stability and alignment with the centre would accelerate development, improve service delivery, and attract more federal attention to the state.
She further linked the governor’s political decision to tangible development outcomes, citing infrastructure projects, improved access to healthcare, education, and economic opportunities as evidence that his leadership priorities remain people-focused.
The health commissioner praised the governor for what she described as courageous and strategic leadership, adding that his actions demonstrate a clear commitment to both state and national development rather than partisan politics.
Dr. Oreh concluded that Rivers State, under the governor’s leadership, is positioning itself as a key partner in Nigeria’s progress, stressing that peace, cooperation, and good governance remain the administration’s guiding principles.
