The House of Representatives has resolved to intervene in the arrest and arraignment of Farah Dagogo, a member representing the Degema/Bonny Federal constituency.
The decision of the House follows a motion raised by another member of the House of reps from Rivers state, Chisom Dike calling for the urgent release of the lawmaker.
The Speaker of the House, Femi Gbajabiamila, expressed concern that the lawmaker is still in police custody despite the charge against him being bailable.
He, however, insisted that the house will not take a position but rely on the law to take its course.
Meanwhile, Farah was rushed out of detention Wednesday to the hospital.
“In the early hours of today, Hon. Doctor Farah Dagogo was taken to the hospital by the Police. He complained of stomach and chest complications”, Ibrahim Lawal, SA Media and Publicity to Farah Dagogo said in a statement.
He added that “He was immediately rushed to the Police Clinic where some tests and scans were conducted
“He was later referred to another hospital facility and has since been admitted.
“As at this stage, the exact health challenge has not been established as further tests and scans are being carried out.
Farah Dagogo, who is also a governorship aspirant under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was arrested on the order of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike.
The Lawmaker was later arraigned before a Magistrate Court in Port Harcourt on the 29th of April.
