The Conference of Professionals in the Peoples Democratic Party (CP-PDP) has confirmed that the PDP will participate in all six Area Councils in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) during the council elections scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026.
In a statement issued on Friday, the group dismissed rumours circulating on social media suggesting that the party had withdrawn from some of the contests. It described the claims as false and misleading.
According to the CP-PDP, the PDP is fielding candidates for both Chairmanship and Councillorship positions in Bwari as well as in the five other Area Councils—Abaji, Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Gwagwalada, Kuje and Kwali.
The group stressed that under Nigeria’s democratic system, it is the political party that appears on the ballot through the sponsorship of candidates, not individuals acting on their own. It added that there is no official communication from any PDP candidate indicating withdrawal from any of the races.
The CP-PDP therefore called on party members, supporters and residents of the FCT to ignore the speculation and come out to vote for PDP candidates in the election.
It also urged voters to remain peaceful and vigilant throughout the process, from casting their votes to monitoring the outcome.
The statement was signed by Barrister Obinna Nwachukwu, Protem National Coordinator of the CP-PDP.
