In the euphoria of the national mourning for the late former President Muhammadu Buhari, the Federal Government has scheduled a special Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting to hold on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. inside the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to a statement issued by Rabiu Ibrahim, Special Assistant (Media) to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, the meeting is part of the Special Mourning Activities approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Before the FEC meeting, Vice President Kashim Shettima will lead a high-powered federal government delegation to Daura, Katsina State, where the third-day prayer for the late former President will be held at his residence.

Those expected at the expanded FEC session include top government officials, members of the National Assembly, leaders of the Judiciary, and representatives from Buhari’s family.
The government has also planned two interfaith services in honour of the late leader. A Special Prayer Session will take place at the National Mosque in Abuja on Friday, July 18, while a Special Church Service will follow on Sunday, July 20.
