The All Progressive Congress (APC) family in Plateau State has been thrown into mourning following the gruesome killing of the State Publicity Secretary of the Party, Hon. Sylvanus Namang, along with one other person on Saturday.
A source close to the party in Jos revealed that the deceased, in the early hours of Saturday, travelled to the Pankshin local government area for burial and was hanging out with some friends at a relaxation spot when the unfortunate incident occurred.
It was gathered that the gunmen, numbering about ten, stormed the relaxation spot at about 8:00 p.m. and shot sporadically into the air, and this led to pandemonium as those within the vicinity scampered for safety.
Nigerians learned that the gunmen went straight to where the publicity secretary was sitting with friends and shot him at close range, while another man sitting close to him was abducted and whisked away.
It was gathered that Namang died on the spot, while the remains of an unidentified man were later discovered along the major road in the area, and his body was later deposited at a mortuary in the local government area.
The State Chairman of the party, Hon. Rufus Bature, who confirmed the unfortunate incident to the Nigerian Tribune, said the publicity secretary of the party was gruesomely murdered by unidentified gunmen in Pankshin.
