The new Speaker of the plateau state house of assembly has been presented to governor Simon Lalong.
Yakubu Sanda has emerged as the new Speaker of the Plateau state House of Assembly.
Sanda’s emergence follows the impeachment of Abok Ayuba on Thursday.
Abok was impeached after a vote of no confidence was passed on him by some members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the State assembly.
In their reaction, the nine members of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State said Abok remains the Speaker of the Plateau State 9th Assembly.
Minority leader Peter Gyenden said, “what took place by the 8 APC members was not an impeachment but a coup because they did not form a quorum.”

The new Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly, Yakubu Sanda, is the member representing Pengana Constituency.
The APC Lawmakers in the House presented Sanda to the State government.
Presenting the new Speaker to the governor majority leader of the plateau state house of assembly, said due process was followed.
Responding on behalf of the state government, the SSG said they will always support an autonomous assembly and work with any leader.
The Majority leader of the Plateau state House of assembly, while addressing pressmen after the presentation, stated that the impeachment of the Nuhu book was constitutional.
