Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has declared that he has reconciled with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu following a private meeting at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
Fubara, who recently resumed duties after the lifting of political restrictions in the state, described his engagement with the President as a cordial “father-and-son” discussion aimed at consolidating peace and preventing further crises in Rivers.
The governor told journalists that his decision to meet President Tinubu was rooted in protocol and courtesy, noting that it was important to officially inform the President of his return and to seek his guidance on matters that could strengthen stability in the state.
“You’re aware that the suspension was lifted on the 17th, midnight of the 17th, and I came in on the 19th,” Fubara explained. “Ideally, it is proper for me to see Mr. President, to tell him that I am back and that I have also resumed my responsibility as the Governor of Rivers State. It was not much—just a father-and-son discussion, telling him thank you, and also pointing out areas where, if at all there should be any issue, he could guide me properly so we don’t get into any situation that could bring crisis again.”
