Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged Rivers people and Nigerians to thank President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for stepping in to stop the political crisis that recently shook the state.
Speaking in Port Harcourt during a meeting with leaders and stakeholders of the Simplified Movement, Fubara said the President’s timely intervention helped save the state from a major breakdown. “If not for Mr President, the story today would have been very different,” the Governor declared.
Rather than focus on achievements to mark his two years in office, Fubara chose to speak about reconciliation and peace. He revealed that the peace process was already underway and assured that both the executive and legislative arms of government would soon return to full operation.
“You will come back to your offices,” he said, addressing his supporters. “And I also believe that the strong relationships we had before will return, and we will begin to work together again, for the good and progress of the State.”

Fubara thanked President Tinubu not only for acting swiftly, but also wisely. “I don’t know how he gets his information, but he acted with wisdom at the right time. He is the one you should thank,” he told the crowd.
He called on all parties to put aside their pride and fully support the peace process. “We have to come down from our high horses. The interest of Rivers State is bigger than all of us.”
The Governor also appealed for forgiveness from anyone who may have felt let down by his actions during the crisis, stating that his intentions were always in the best interest of peace. “If anyone felt disappointed, please forgive me. My goal has always been to protect the peace and progress of our State.”

He hinted that reconciliation was ongoing with his predecessor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Chief Nyesom Wike. “There’s no reason why there won’t be peace between me and my Oga. We are meeting. We will reconcile.”
Fubara concluded by expressing gratitude to Rivers people and all Nigerians who stood by him during the tense period. “One important thing in this life is respect. I want to earn the respect of the people, not force it. I’m with you completely.”
