Terrorists have killed at least 60 in different attacks across Zamfara State.
Residents say the affected villages are Kurfa Danya, Kurfa Magaji Rafin Gero, Tungar Isa and Barayar Zaki in Bukkuyum and Anka Local Government Areas of the state.
The attacks happened a few days after terrorists released 97 captives, including women and children.
However, it is believed that the leader of the terrorist group, Shehu Bayade led the deadly attacks on the villages.
“People are picking up their dead bodies,” an eyewitness told the media in Zamfara.
The eyewitness added that “They came in a very large number and on motorbikes firing at residents and torching residential houses and food stores. The residents, especially women and children, scampered for safety.
“Some of them are taking refuge in Bukkuyum local government area and some other relatively safer communities. The whereabouts of dozens of other residents are still unknown.
The Zamfara state police command is yet to react to the latest development.
The spokesman of the state police command, SP Muhammad Shehu, could not be reached for comment at the time of filing this report.
