The home of the Chairman of Rivers State Presidential Campaign Management Committee of The Peoples Democratic Party – PDP, Sen. Lee Maeba, was Thursday morning invaded by gunmen who shot recklessly at the house before fleeing.
No life was lost in the attack which lasted several minutes leaving parts of the house destroyed.
Eyewitnesses confirmed to symfoninews that five vehicles parked in the compound were destroyed by the gunmen said to number over 20. Sen. Maeba’s home on Prof Abowie Street, GRA Phase 2 Port-Harcourt, has been a focus of attention since Gov. Nyesom Wike, threatened to deal decisively with Atiku’s supporters in the state.
Wike had earlier revoked a plot belonging to Maeba in Port Harcourt.
According to our eyewitness “, over 20 gunmen stormed the GRA residence of Senator Lee Maeba. Four vehicles destroyed. “The senator had left the house earlier before the gunmen arrived. Casualties is not yet clear, but one person is reportedly injured and getting treatment at an undisclosed hospital.”
The attack on Senator Maeba’s home comes a day after the Rivers state government shutdown EUI Event Centre also in GRA, Port Harcourt for hosting an event that had politicians across different political parties in Rivers state.
Chris Finebone, Commissioner For Information confirmed the sealing of the event centre by the government. Finebone claimed that the event centre was sealed because of traffic violations by the management of the centre.
