The Supreme Court has fixed Thursday 21st of December for the hearing of the Kano Governorship Election Appeal between Governor Abba Kabiru Yusuf of the New Nigeria Peoples Party NNPP and Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna of All Progressives Congress (APC).
A notice from the Registrar of the Supreme Court which was sent to the legal team of both parties, the Supreme Court disclosed that it would hear the appeal of New Nigeria Peoples Party and cross-appeals of other parties
Recall that Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf is challenging the judgment of the Court of Appeal which, about a month ago, affirmed the nullification of his election victory by the Kano State Governorship Election Tribunal.
The three-member panel led by Justice Osedebay had declared the All Progressives Congress candidate in the governorship election, Nasiru Gawuna, the winner of the poll in the state
The tribunal had sacked Yusuf on the grounds that his name was not included in the register of party members sent by his ward to the Independent National Electoral Commission (NEC) as well as the fact that about 165,663 votes cast in his favour were not stamped, signed, and dated as provided by the Electoral Act.
