Kirike, Rivers State – The Amanyanabo and Supreme Monarch of Kirike Kingdom, King Air Commodore Tamuno-omisiki Emmanuel Opuiyo Ogube (rtd), has called on the Kirike Divisional Council of Chiefs to uphold collective inclusiveness and transformational leadership in building a stronger, more unified kingdom.
King Ogube made this charge during the inauguration of the 2025 Session of the Kirike Divisional Council of Chiefs, held at the Chiefs Hall in Kirike, Okrika Local Government Area.
Addressing the Chiefs, King Ogube emphasized the critical role they play as custodians of tradition and unifiers of the people. He commended their past efforts in preserving the socio-cultural fabric of the Kirike Kingdom, noting that their leadership has been instrumental in maintaining unity and stability.
“The past years have been a defining era where you, as Chiefs, have demonstrated collective responsibility to safeguard our heritage and uphold the values that bind us together,” King Ogube stated.
He particularly praised the unwavering commitment of the Chiefs in mobilizing and facilitating the final burial rites of his late wife and Queen of Kirike Kingdom, Queen Barrister Elizabeth Tamunoibuomi Opuiyo Ogube DSSKK. He described the ceremonies as not just traditions but a reaffirmation of the kingdom’s core values—unity, dignity, and respect for heritage.
The monarch also stressed the importance of a strong partnership between the traditional institution and the Rivers State Government, particularly under the leadership of Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas (rtd), the newly appointed Sole Administrator of Rivers State.
According to King Ogube, the new administration has made it clear that traditional rulers have a vital role in ensuring peace, security, and stability. He urged the Chiefs to work closely with the government to support these efforts.
King Ogube did not mince words when he addressed issues of indiscipline and disorder. He warned against Chiefs or community leaders who harbor criminals or encourage lawlessness, stating that such actions would be seen as a betrayal of the sacred trust placed upon them.
